Each individual has probably experienced back pain in one way or another. For some, it occurs for only a short period of time and easily goes away. For others, it occurs for a longer period or worse recurs. What follows is a list of recommended home and natural remedies to ease back pain.
Structural Correction Chiropractic. Traditional chiropractic often focuses on the compensated area and doesn’t look to restore the overall structure back to normal. Look for a chiropractor that focuses on correcting the underlying structural imbalances like we do at Simple Truth Chiropractic.
Proper posture and enough rest. A way to address back pain is the awareness and practice of proper body posture. It sounds simple yet is actually difficult to maintain. The same is true for getting enough rest. With the fast-paced world, rest has become a luxury for some. Both are part of an existing lifestyle and require conscious effort to improve.
Lying flat on the floor. Try to get away from beds or cushions for a night or two and lie flat on the floor. This Oriental practice has proven to be beneficial for back pains.
Hot and cold compress. This is the quickest pain relief available. One can also opt for a warm or hot bath as a cold bath may just be unbearable. A mineral bath, which may be a part of a practice known as balneotherapy, is also an option.

Fluids and Vitamins. Increasing water and milk intake contributes to healthy body and bones. Calcium builds strong bones and strong bones prevent not only back pain but also osteoporosis in the long run. Deficiencies in Vitamin D and E (found in fish oils) have also been found to cause back pain, as such taking supplements is also recommended.
Exercise. Stretching and other forms of exercise increases the body’s flexibility, strength and endurance and these help prevent back pain.
Acupuncture. Studies have shown that acupuncture has helped significantly reduce body pains. Acupuncture involves sticking needles into the body in identified pathways. The procedure is said to natural pain relieving chemicals in the body.
Music therapy. Pain is often said to be heightened by stress. Music soothes the mind freeing it from stress and eventually soothes the body.
Prolotherapy. This is a procedure that helps heal injured ligaments and tendons by injecting a liquid solution into affected area such as the back.
While most of these remedies address back pain, if it persists, it is always best to consult with a chiropractor as with any other health concerns.
